RIC campus encompasses more than 5000 sq. m, and includes state of the art research labs, a simulation lab, a cafeteria and space for outdoor sports. The vast space is designed aesthetically to ensure maximum efficiency and create an amicable work environment. Additionally, the building is LEED Certified, keeping in line with the overall theme of RIC – of power saving & protection.
All the research labs are updated periodically according to the latest developments in the field. RIC also ensures that the recreational needs of the workers are met with a large cafeteria and sports area where employees can unwind.
The high voltage lab has state-of-the-art measuring equipment used in PD and high-voltage testing. RIC is especially proud of the in-house capability in DC voltage measurements up to 150 KV. The RIC HV lab is a well-known independent laboratory for testing and certification of medium and high voltage components used in electrical transmission infrastructure.
The materials laboratory has specific facilities for new polymer developments, functional materials and development of advanced processing techniques. The development of new materials and the product-oriented perspective in manufacturing process research are key differentiators in the materials laboratory. Polymer materials characterization and testing for importance in electrical and mechanical aspects are also integrated in the facilities.
The electronics lab facilitates the development of power electronics circuits and sensors &communication hardware, to make Raychem products more “intelligent”. The automation &control team helps with the embedded software and in developing customized SCADA solutions for the products to make them communicate with other systems.
RIC’s dedicated simulation lab has a competent team with in-depth skills &expertise in Thermal, Structural, Multi-body dynamics, Electromagnetism and Computational Fluid dynamics. Software like COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS, Matlab are a part of the simulation tools along with Auto CAD inventor professional. The Simulation Lab helps in analysing new concepts, optimizing prototypes and validating new products before field trials.
The IP Centre of Excellence (CoE) is a critical support group for Raychem RPG in creating intellectual wealth and protecting the same, with aligned IP processes for every step of any new product development. Using advanced tools such as Dervent Innovation for patent mapping of competitor portfolios so that rival’s patent clusters can be avoided and to identify white spaces and give an edge to our research team for innovation, the IP lab is core driver & protector of innovation at Raychem RPG.
